Thank you + Kitsap Farmer + MaransThank you for a great Special Farm Store. We are delighted at how many people, regulars
from the PFM, came by, starting at 11 a.m. to visit their vegetables and buy. We
will have our Farm Store open more days in the summer. I would love "farm share" people to "man" it. We
will interview and check the people out because it is food. Kitsap Farmer is a Yahoo Group that focuses on Kitsap farming and Kitsap grown food. Kitsap Farmer is all about local food, both veggies
& protein, local politics affecting food, and the growing thereof. Kitsap
Farmer is a list serve forum for the Agricultural orientated people out there. Primarily located in or near Kitsap County...
you do NOT have to be a farmer or rancher to join. KitsapFarmer was formed in May of 2004 to help local producers connect
with each other and share problems, ideas, & solutions. I went off today with
an empty crate and came back with 10 Black Copper Marans (1 is promised to someone). They are layers, and proved that point
by laying 3 eggs on the trip home from Kingston. In addition, I brought back 20 Cuckoo Maran chicks. They aren't sexed,
so we hope that they are evenly split between the sexes.

IT'S A SUNNY DAYThe sun is out and so are we. We are planting today. Here is what is going in the ground
outdoors: Leeks, head lettuce, celery, two kinds of carrots, salad mix, two kinds
of beets, kolrabi, parsnips, and rutabaga. In the high tunnel, Kelly is transplanting
our sweet bell peppers. There is so much more to plant, but that looks like a
full day's work. We are planting for a 150 full share CSA season this year.
