Corn, eggs, lamb, fruit, oh my!

The CSA shares, farm store, and Poulsbo Farmers Market are going to find beautiful food again this week. The corn defied sequential planting and is ripening almost all at the same time. The Crew picked over 500 lbs yesterday.  There will be more. The melons are tasty but not quite ripe yet, and the pumpkins are almost there.

We have chicken eggs available. There will be fresh frozen lamb (USDA) ready to take home and enjoy early next week. The lamb was raised by our friend Jade Pope of Burley in South Kitsap. Delicious and tender grass fed lamb.We have VERY limited amounts of lamb. Beef, now USDA, will be available in two weeks. I still have it as custom butchered on our beef page, but we had it done through a new USDA facility and cut at Minder Meats. If you already ordered your beef, there will be no change in price. We will be able to sell it by the cut now, too.

FRUIT, Gala apples and red or green Bartlet pears can be ordered in 40 pound boxes selling for $39 a box. These are perfect for making cider, canning, or simply eating.

These are certified organic home use or canning grade, meaning that they have small blemishes or broken stems. These are from an orchard east of the mountains.

We have a very limited time opportunity to bring these to you. Please let me know as soon as you can if you are interested by e-mailing me.

These vegetables were ripe this week and making it into dinners in Kitsap county: Beets, Chard, Collards, Corn, Crookneck squash, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Eggplant, Garlic, Green Beans, Kale, Lettuce, Patti Pan (flying saucer squash), Peppers, Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Zucchini.

The chicken is out for several more weeks. We had a little picnic at the farm yesterday, with our Crew field lead grilling three chickens for us all. Delicious. We had some grilled corn, too.

Our family farm since 1892.

Our business was founded in 1892 and changes with the generations and the needs of our community. We decided to go into farming produce in 2004, and became WSDA/USDA certified organic in 2005. We started our CSA in 2006 and the response continues to be overwhelming
